To celebrate Trout Fisherman’s 500th issue, I led the creative direction for a commemorative edition honouring the magazine’s legacy and the evolution of flyfishing since its launch in 1977. I curated 3 themed features from the archives, including a 6-page retrospective with founding members, timelines, and soundbites, and a visual feature on the changing wardrobe and tackle of the fly angler.
A bespoke anniversary badge unified the editorial content, while a special illustrated cover by renowned angling artist David Miller added impact on the newsstand. I specified a glossy paper stock with a Pantone metallic gold fifth spot colour to present a more premium product. Supporting assets were created for social media and website advertising, alongside a special reader offer of “500 flies and a jumbo fly box”.
The result was a cohesive, celebratory issue that resonated with readers and reinforced the brand’s heritage.
